Review Content:

This book, Perawan Remaja dalam Cengkraman Militer, tells the story of the suffering of Indonesian girls who were victims of the atrocities of the Japanese army during the Second World War on Buru Island and the continuation of the fate of the comfort women who were abandoned after Japan surrendered in 1945.

In 1943, the Dai Nippon Army Occupation Government in Java issued orders to young girls to continue their studies in Tokyo and Singapore. This order was never officially announced nor was it included in the Osamu Serei (State Gazette).

The Japanese deliberately did this to erase traces of the teenage virgins who had been dispatched to leave their homeland and their families to take a dangerous journey. Not to be sent to school, but they were forced to fulfill the sex dreams of Japanese soldiers. Modern studies refer to them as Jugun Ianfu or comfort women. In fact, comfort women are not only prostitutes, but also sex slaves in a brutal, premeditated manner, and we can consider it a war crime.

The advantage of this book is that it is a very touching story, especially women. I can feel how the feelings of the women felt at that time, at a very young age they had to go away from their families to get an education, but unfortunately they had been deceived. I can also feel the suffering of those who cannot return to their families because they are ashamed of their families, do not have money and so on.

This book also has a drawback, namely this book has a language that is considered quite difficult to understand to read today, even so this book can still be read comfortably.

I think this book is very interesting to read, I think by reading this book we can get a lot of knowledge about the lives of women in that era. I hope that anyone who reads the book, can understand that women should be respected and do not deserve to be seen as weak creatures.

Thank you for read my review, see you again<3.
